Most of us who compete in any horse discipline dream of one day owning, training and riding that "perfect horse". Rommy was as near to perfect as anyone could wish... truly that "once in a life time horse". His temperament and trainability were faultless, and we all knew that he was glory bound. Words cannot express the emptiness that those who loved him now feel.
He has left a legacy of wonderful young horses bearing his unmistakable stamp, so perhaps in the future there will be another rising young star with the same combination of temperament, attitude and talent... we can only hope.
Highlights of career: Competed very successfully in Dressage with FEI rider Gerry Wellington. Last two competitions were Spring Championships in Oct 02 at which he was Medium Champion and Fleurieu Dressage Festival, only 2 weeks before he died, where he won the Advanced.
Started competing FEI level at 9 years old, unfortunately died of complications following colic surgery just a few months after his debut in Prix St Georges, cutting short a very promising career.
Romulus excelled in his very short career in Breed Classes. He competed at Gawler A.H. & F. Society Annual Show in 2000 to win all classes entered, including Ridden Stallion, was awarded champion Stallion/Colt in Show (from a final class of 7 breeds) and was given a Special Award for his achievements. Several weeks later he then went on to the Royal Adelaide Show where he also won all of his classes and was awarded Champion Warmblood Entire/Colt for 2000. As his owner is not an "in hand" person, we decided to retire on that note.

NORTHERN ROMULUS has left us with a very stunning son, Bravo Romulus, who is now standing at Acacia Ridge Stud.

Bravo was bred by Sally Haxwell of Inverwood
Stud and was purchased by Acacia Ridge Stud when he was only five weeks old, he
is by Northern Romulus who was by Falkland Victory out of Arnhem Dutch WB mare.
Romulus had just gone Prix St Georges and had won the Advanced at the Fleurieu
Championships when he unfortunately developed colic and died following surgery.
Sally kindly offered me Bravo the day after Romulus died and I purchased him at
five weeks of age. His dam carries the famous Salute lines on her sires side and
his granddam's lineage goes back to Precipitation who has been an outstanding TB
sire of jumping horses.
